CLOSE HAZELWOOD, Melbourne on 28/07/2010 08:44 PM:
I encourage people to support Environment Victoria in its campaign to shut down Hazelwood. Hazelwood is a dinosaur of a power station, built in the 1960s and originally scheduled for closure in 2000. Voters sick of a national conversation on climate change, in which everything and nothing has been said, understand that replacing power stations such as Hazelwood will clean up our energy supply and deliver quick and lasting emissions reductions. Have a look at the age opinion piece. http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/politics/the-clunker-we-need-to-scrap-is-hazelwood-20100728-10uxk.html

Will the Greens please take an urgent stand on the remaining old growth forest in the Central Highlands? Wildlife and biodiversity took a shocking hit on Black Saturday and now VicForests plan to gouge the heart out of remaining, unburnt pockets of moist forests in their latest TRP proposal. It is imperative that the Greens ask a question in parliament or make a media release in these crucial weeks before the DSE make a final decision on the latest proposal for permanent deforestation of our catchments and biodiverse forests.

If only Trees could contribute to the ALP campaign donations... Then they might be protected. Shame on Brumby and the murderous Vic Forest!
